Biratnagar: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has announced that the government will implement the concept of an Employment Bank to provide jobs based on the knowledge, skills, and technical expertise of the available workforce.
Addressing the Shramadhan Employment Fair today, PM Prachanda emphasized that the Employment Bank will address job demand and supply issues and promote entrepreneurship development. He highlighted that the initiative aims to harness the labor, skills, and experiences of returnee migrants and those within the country to expedite entrepreneurship development.
The Prime Minister revealed that provisions have been made in the upcoming fiscal year's budget to ensure employment for up to 100,000 returnee migrants, leveraging their knowledge, capital, skills, and technical expertise. He assured that the welfare of workers, including their health and well-being, would be protected to align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and government policies.
The PM also noted the government's efforts to boost domestic employment through entrepreneurship development and the effective utilization of remittances. He stressed that ensuring long-term domestic job opportunities is crucial for the country's prosperity and citizens' well-being.
"The government plans to enhance the competitiveness of job seekers by promoting their skills and capacity building. Implementing employment fairs will directly benefit many youths entering the labor market," said PM Prachanda. He called for joint efforts and cooperation from all stakeholders to advance the journey towards prosperity through employment generation and decent labor development.
Praising the 'Shramadhan Employment Fair' as a meaningful intervention, the Prime Minister expressed hope that it would capitalize on opportunities in the labor and employment sector and provide a comprehensive solution to related issues. He also mentioned that the new budget for the upcoming fiscal year includes several new programs aimed at employment creation, entrepreneurship development for returnees, and revitalizing the agriculture sector.
In a separate interaction at Biratnagar Airport, PM Prachanda stated that the CPN (Unified Socialist) supports the current ruling alliance. He mentioned his discussions with CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, who confirmed their support for the existing power arrangement.
Addressing regional concerns, the Prime Minister highlighted that the new budget addresses demands such as the construction of a ring road in Biratnagar and the establishment of a medical college in Koshi Province. The budget prioritizes production, productivity, and employment, he added.
As the Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre), PM Dahal also expressed confidence that a government would be formed in Madhes Province under the present ruling alliance.
